RWF Post 1920 badge in reversed metals
Recently sold on eBay by endici who lists some unusual items.
A standard RWF grenade except in reversed metals.. not seen this before and it's not listed in KK. Reversed metals would usually suggest militia but the 1920 date is too late for that. Am curious as to what it is. Six bidders who pushed it up to a good price clearly think it something special. No slight intended on the seller whose stuff I like and this one has his usual clear descriptions and photos, am just intrigued by what this badge actually is. eBay #352852000144

The welch spelling was used by the VB before 1920.
Reversed metal militia badges were by no means universally worn as the badges were supplied by the Army so they would have been issued standard badges. Officers would have bought thier badges so there were design varaitions. That is not an officers badge so it's an oddity. I might pay £1.50 for it but not £150 especially after looking at the back. The same goes for the voided version of the normal badge https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW1-Pre-1....c100012.m1985. An interesting badge but not recorded as being worn. The voided version of the normal badge usually turns up for sale as a "sergeants badge".
I have one although I've never been convinced that it's authentic.

I should have spotted the spelling but I blindly copied his listing title..
An oddity certainly. I’d classify the voided one as a maker variation and not a distinct pattern. Without documentation/ evidence for either of these they won’t be going on my wants for now!
