Default Royal Army Pay Corps beret size cap badges

Three Royal Army Pay Corps smaller (beret) size cap badges.

A common badge but interesting maker marks:

King's Crown bimetal maker marked GLADMAN & NORMAN \ SPENCER ST \ BIRMINGHAM18

Queen's Crown bimetal maker marked BUTTONS LTD \ BIRMINGHAM

Queen's Crown bimetal maker marked J.R.GAUNT LONDON

Staying roughly to this thread, I picked this beret up at Chelmsford militaria fair several years ago now - RAPC attached to the Essex Regt. It's a Kangol beret, with bog standard anodised RAPC beret badge but with a beautiful 'pompadour' backing as per the Essex Regt.

Judging by the fading to the backing, served somewhere warm perhaps?

Purely for interest chaps.

Regards all

Bess

Bess, I have a question about your beret and pay Corps badge. The badge does not fit entirely within he backing diamond - is that acceptable, or would the wearer be made to get a larger backing?

Thanks,

Terry

Terry,
The Essex Regt wore a one and a half inch pompadour square on end, behind the cap badge.

The RAPC beret I have, has the pompadour square just short of one and a half inch, but I suspect there has been a bit if shrinkage and possibly made a little shorter when stitched on.

All the best

Bess
