KLR Badges
I have just been looking at my KLR Badges and would be interested to hear the thoughts of other members. Am I right in thinking the top officers one was worn by 2nd Bn in India after WW1? The bottom right is I assume an officers collar from 1st Bn pre WW1? The bottom left I have always had slight doubts about but I have never seen another one like it so I assume it is a 5th VB WW1 Badge?
All thoughts welcome, many thanks. Denis Last edited by Alan O; 16-10-21 at 11:41 AM. |

The top design was in use prior to WW1 up to 1926 when the sealed pattern changed and a similar design of cap badge was issued. .See https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=86774
The VB ended in 1908 so pre-dates WW1. Alan |

The top badge was a Foreign Service badge - this one for the 1st Bn. It was intrduced almost certainly before 1900 (possibly 1896). There are photographs showing offr and OR wearing them in SA. (there is a collection of these badges in my album...
S&G, OSD and various die types of BM Yes, look up the thread that Alan has highlighted Lower left is a badge worn by 5th Bn officers from 1916 - up to 1926. (there is a collection of these badges in my album... Lower right - officer's S&G collar badge - worn 1926 - 1950 Last edited by KLR; 16-10-21 at 04:28 PM. Reason: album |
