Some KOSB insignia from 2002
Guys, thought i would show these bits i picked up from the KOSB PRI when i was in Cyprus. I think that they are to represent from 7 KOSB served as glider troops at Arnhem.3 KOSB glider.jpg

The Glider Battle Honour badge was awarded in 1950 to the Border Regiment and the South Staffordshire Regiment for Sicily in 1943.
I've never seen or heard that the KOSB were awarded this as well, can anyone confirm this? Rgds, fougasse1940.

K.O.S.B don't wear it. Maybe because it was only the long disbanded 7th Bn who wore it. Unlike the other Regiments with direct descent!
In the Museum at Berwick On Tweed nearby, there's not a single post war Glider badge.

I may stand corrected. The KORBR were also there at the time that i was over there.We are talking late 2001 to late 2002.
I tried to find which regt supplied the RIB during this time at Epi, but couldnt find anything. I looked at the Regtl museum for KORBR but it didnt show anything to indicate a Glider borne role (Nor was there anything on Regtl distinctions). I checked the KOSB and read about the 7th, so assumed it was from their time. ANY info on these would be greatfully received. Regards Jon

It's the KORBR. (Ex Border Regt, museum at Carlisle Castle full of Arnhem stuff!) Just a memory mix up with the East & West Border. Sorted

Thankyou mate, i thought i was going mental.I saw their cap badge on their official site, but couldnt find anything on the glider.
Do they wear this insignia as a whole regt, or was it a particular battalion? Thanks for clearing that up for me. Jon Colloquendo imperamus

Whole regiments, the captions state which is which, wire embroidered is for Officers Service Dress. Worn on the right shoulder. Also worn by the Staffordshire Regiment. I wonder if the current Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and the Mercian Regiment still wear them.

As Fougasse said the BORDER Regiment where awarded it as a Special Embellishment in September 1950. Initially forming part of the Shoulder title on a Maroon background. Later the KING'S OWN BORDER wore a smaller Yellow silk glider on a green background below the name. The KING'S OWN ROYAL BORDER REGIMENT rectangle badge is just the Glider worn on the point of the shoulder and is Yellow on Khaki. There are the usual Gold Bullion on Blue for No.1's and Gold bullion on red for mess dress. As far as I'm aware there was only the 1 Bn. DUKE OF LANCASTER'S REGIMENT (2 regular & 1 TA Bns) The Glider awarded as an honour to the KORBR is worn on the sleeve of No. 1 and No. 2 dress. The glider is also incorporated on the regiment's TRF.
