Today's make you chuckle badge
Greetings each and all.
For any of you feeling somewhat depressed at the thought of having to undertake Christmas domestic chores......e.g shopping, below is a little something to make you smile..........................hopefully. Well, it made me chuckle. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-21st-London-Regiment-Artists-Rifles-1st-Volunteer-Battalion-Cap-Badge/362508343575?hash=item54672e5917:g:wucAAOSwNTNcEiz ~:rk:2f:0 Best wishes and regards. Brian,
You have to smile especially as the seller has a feedback score of 9650 and if a new collector saw this dealers stall at a Militaria Fair ( I am pretty sure he stands at Stockport ) he might think this dealer knows what he is talking about and he can buy with confidence. I saw a film the other day and the most memorable line in it was "Normal has become Excellent". These days dealers who know about military history and the stuff they are selling are no longer the norm. How long before we see a Cavalry or Yeomanry V.B. badge ? Peter

But not as rare as the 2/4th Yeomanry/Cavalry parachute battalion. I know because I've got one and it only cost me £200.

Right, you asked for it.
I have a brass general service button that was used by an MI5 communist double agent working for Himmler but who was imprisoned by Stalin when his Spitfire jump jet was shot down over Moscow during the Battle of Britain. The button has a compass inside that was personally presented to him by Adolph H when they had a weekend away together at the Golden Sun caravan park in Bridlington in 1934. The button was found on the barbed wire at Stalag 17 after the agent broke out and stole a JCB which he smuggled back in inside a wooden pantomime horse. The JCB was used to build a tunnel under the commandant's office in which a lot of secret papers were held, the entire safe was then taken out of the tunnel and given to Josef Stalin to prove the agent's loyalty. I got it at a car boot sale for 50p and I know that the story is true because the bloke who sold it to me said it was his dad's. |

Sorry to tell you Simon but you've been conned. The Golden Sun caravan park didn't open until 1937 - don't believe everything that you're told ! PL |

I'm with OC14. The story had me hooked until I read Bridlington... Mablethorpe and you may have got away with it...

I like the VB Dorsets too. So much I bought a soldering iron and plan to make them as a hobby in my shed. Sadly though there is no electric so it might have to wait...
