Yorks Hussars IY, 2nd Boer War?
Hi All
Not pictured in KK..... but is this the Yorkshire Hussars IY? It certainly fits the description and is "similar" to the Yorks Dragoons KK1315....

Does the rose move or is it affixed to the plume?
It's upside down for a Yorkshire rose - right way up for a Lancaster one (or Hants?). regards, Andy C

The two badges are separate on the rosette and the POWs are an IY issue. KK say that 1907 was the official date for a white rose and "gilding metal POWs" ...... so I am wondering if this was worn in SA by the Yorks Hussars contingent - to difference themselves from the Yorks Dragoons?
below is KK1315 (Yorkshire Dragoons IY)...

I wasn't sure based on the motto on the POW feathers, but checking my copy of "The uniforms of the British Yeomanry Force 1794-1914. 3: The Yorkshire Hussars. Barlow & Smith", fig 11 shows the badge (doesn't appear to be on a rosette) on an Officers Austrian Pattern Field cap, Circe 1890.
Cheers, Andy C
