Default Swiss Volunteer Title

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding this shoulder title and if by the slim chance where I could find one? From the websites description it was worn by Swiss volunteers in the RAF. This is the only picture I could find as they seem to be very rare.

Regards,
Frank

My first thought is that if Switzerland was a neutral country, then they would be breaking that neutrality by having identified men serving in the ranks of the allies. Just my thought, and may not be the correct one.

Hi Terry,

How about the volunteer US Eagle Squadrons who flew with the RAF in 1940 prior to the USA's entry into WWII in 1941? Cheers,

Walt

Walt, Yep, you're right didn't think about them, or maybe even the 1st American Squadron Home Guard,. And at the outset, America was still neutral, but was already shipping war materials to Britain. Good point!!!

I can't help with more information or where to obtain one but the article reproduced on this site seems to confirm its existence

http://www.britairforce.com/imagepages/raf_nat.htm

It even mentions a USSR title!
