It is not an AA badge. Seller has uploaded an image of the back of the badge, which clearly shows this is not made from Agonised Ally.

Best rgds and good luck to bidders who are after this badge.
I don't know why you think it is not aa. As someone who has worn both types of badge for many years and who is familiar with all of the infantry I can assure you it is aa. I hope that helps.

Attached images show an AA Somerset LI cap-badge.

At home, I also have a badge the same as the one currently for sale on Ebay - Nice badge, but it's not AA. Am not at home right now, so unable to post images.

Perhaps the eventual purchaser of the Ebay item will let us know whether the badge is AA or not?

Caveat emptor

Looks like a silver-plated badge to me and, while I'd bow to hagwalther's expertise on AA badges, the Gaunt B'ham slider also suggests it is a 'wrong un' to me.

Hi, this badge is also being discussed in the restrike section. It is the Birmingham Mint badge. I believe there is a picture in one of the albums.

Toby,
I'm sure you mean well with your advice, however you are quite wrong on this one! It's a silvered metal Birmingham Mint production and not Anodised Aluminium! Hope it's not Forum members biddding?

Andy

Hi Guys,

1. It doesn't look like A/A to me.

2. It's not a known A/A Gaunt slider - I've identified 10 different A/A Gaunt sliders so far.

3. As the unit completed service in 1959 and the mark J.R.GAUNT B'HAM is not know (at least on A/A items) until 1966 I would state that the item may well be a dud.

Regards

Chris

Mike,
lol

Just didn't want to see someone forking out a small fortune on a £3-5 item!

Thank you Andy and William, I stand humbly corrected. I am also amazed! The Birmingham Mint production line has clearly passed me by in blissful oblivion! I have learned something today and thank you all for putting me right.

It finally went for £82.

Seller added this message: "To the best of my knowledge this is as described above. However if the winner is not satisfied with the above item I will offer a full refund on return of the badge. Thanks"

Can't say fairer than that.
