Default Royal Military Police KC Silver Badge

Hi All,

I've just won this as part of a lot at auction, I'm pretty pleased with this one.

It's not hallmarked or stamped with the P but it has some weight to it.

Micheal,

Being fitted with a slider would suggest an other ranks cap badge.

Not sure why it would be in silver therefore, or come to that, even in WM.

Do you know why?

regards

I'm fairly sure this is a warrant officers cap badge.

Found this description on a site with a section for MP/RMP :

Military Police Cap Badge in Silver with Cypher for King George VI and prefix "Royal"

Although the RMP did not have its own officers at this point, WO1s and some attached officers wore the badge in silver.

Thanks Mike,

According to my Redcap collectables the RMP didn't have their own officers until March 1954 so I knew it wasn't an officers one although I believe some of the attached officers were buying ones made in jewellers before that.

I have been after one of these for a few years, there's only a couple of rare expensive MP cap badges left I'm hoping to get but I think they will be real long term hunts and probably out of my price range unless I'm really lucky.
