Note the spelling INKERMANN
Here is a link showing a similar badge / belt buckle asking for identification. Unfortunately not resolved!

A patriotic rather than a military badge, symbolising the participation of the French, Turks and British?

As per Tim's post, with that backing I would say it is more likely a belt buckle than a badge?

Simon.

Numerous accounts/newspaper articles etc from that era use the same spelling. There is a poem written by William McGonagall (1825-1902) called "The Battle of Inkermann".

The battle of Inkermann happened on November 5th 1854 and the design of the badge/buckle appears to have been "Regd.December 6th 1854" , so somone was very quick getting this registered.

Default Inkermann

Hi all
Yes, the "Inkermann" spelling was also used on the British Crimea medal. Also "Balaklava" and "Sebastopol" were the contemporary English usage. Nice and interesting item aged. Thanks for sharing. Regards Jeff

There were a lot of mass produced and cheaply made commemorative items made and sold during the Crimean War. Here are two more examples from my collection. The first, has been blackened to show the detail. The reverse has one remaining prong but there is evidence that it once had at least three.
