Gday from Australia.
I’m just wondering if anybody could shine a light on my uncles military history. My Nan has no idea but we think he was SBS ? His name . Frederick Allan rogers. RE 10547 Any information would be lovely . Regards Quinn |

There is not much information to go on - but this link may help get you started if it is wartime SBS you are talking about (Army Unit)

The process appears to have changed a bit since I last used it pre-Covid - it took a long while to come through given Covid office closure. I am not sure what the waiting time is now. Its not a Royal Marine service number, so if it wasn't during WW2 then he wasn't SBS.

You show RE 10547
Is RE part of his service number or does it indicate Royal Engineers? 10547 does not have enough digits to be a WW2 or later British Army number. It could be a pre WW2 number. 10547 as an officer’s number was allocated to Lt Col V G Stokes MC Royal Berkshire Regiment who retired from the active list in August 1946 Tim
