Hi Jim - the blacked brass 4GR was worn by Gurkha ranks in the 1920's - it has been copied, but I think yours is okay. The wm cast 3GR look okay to me - I think its a beret badge rather than a cap badge and as such will be WW2 and locally made - their were 4 Btns in WW2 - 2 served in Burma, 1 served in the middle east and Italy and the 4/3GR served in India. The last wm 4GR is almost certainly a fake. This particular design was introduced in 1943 - and its the one you seem most often on ebay ( over 20 at the time of writing) - the museum used to sell them in their shop but stamped "COPY" on the rear. There's a version where the handles of the kukris are either horn, blackened brass, or painted black. Sadly in the last 10 years or so these have been copied too.

Hi there, I think you're confusing me with someone else ? I'm not a "serving veteran" - all my knowledge on Gurkhas has come from 40 years of collecting and a lot of books But in the spirit of the forum ,happy to share that knowledge -
