Yes I was following the sell. Crazy. Were they ever less than 2 digits ?
Too bad I let escape 20 years without buying one.

This is a Pegasus patch that I sold years ago, it was bright red rather than maroon.

Thank you very much for sharing, Luc.
This patch is printed on Satin Drill cotton fine weave which was introduced a bit later than the coarse wave, sometime in 1943. It is said that the satin cotton had a tendency of fading to a redder colour. This one had the exact same outcome.

to my peepers the bright red patch appears to be the normal drill pattern. herewith a brushed cotton example. specsavers anyone ?

Yours is another example of a patch printed on Satin Drill cotton fine weave which faded to a red colour.
I have provided my own example of an unissued patch on fine weave material. It might have been more challenging to do good printing on this material as we can see on the missing tip of the spear.
Fine Weave.jpg
As it was unissued, this patch has kept the original marron colour.

The original specified colour for all Pegasus patches was maroon. We have a great source of information from one of the Broad Oak Printworks’ albums, the most important Calico facility in Accrington. This particular album, published by ‘The formation Sign’ a few years back, shows some details about the ink recipe that was utilized for printing these patches.
The marron mix was made with 3 measures of ‘Bordeaux’ Red N and one measure of Brown inks. This mix was applied on dyed pale ‘blue padded cloth’. As already mentioned in this thread, the end results depended on the combination of different type of cotton, variant in the mix formula etc…

Hi guys, wanted to have your opinions on those ones.
The second one just got sold and look very unused, can't really see through the blue back.
They seems pretty legit for my eyes.
Cheers

Both badges are fine.
The second one is a textbook example of an unissued one printed on satin, hence the absence of bleeding.
The first one is on coarse wave drill. I personally prefer a slightly different type of coarse material like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144860559...mis&media=MORE
