Hi Irv

I think the first button is Victorian Grenadier Guards, the buckle looks Victorian Royal Navy.

All the best

Graham

Looks like Grenadier Guards to me VR and reversed VR intertwined above a grenade.

Many thanks, 35th Regiment of Foot, if you scroll down on the attached link you'll see another example of this button. Sure Tiger Pete will like to see this.

Hi All,

As has been said, this is a 35th of Foot (what looks like a silver plated Officer's 1822-1829 coatee) button. Battle honour, 'Maida' may denote flank company as they received this honour some 10 years before the rest of the regt. I have one in my album and Hawthorn's right, it's one of my favourites!

Kind Regards,

Pete

Thanks Simon and Pete, the button was found on the Isle of Wight. It’s in great condition considering it’s probable been in the ground for a couple of hundred years.
Thanks for the info
Regards
Irv
