Default RAF officers Side cap

A privately made RAF officers side cap, pre 1953 because of the Kings crown buttons with nickle plated insignia. It appears to have been manufactured by his wife or girlfriend as the lining is made from a circa WWII period sweetheart scarf with little spitfires as the design. It also has his name embroidered into the head band area, Mike Brown.

Greetings All,

Sadly I don't have any headdress to share but sincerely want to thank 'all' contributors to this thread, some truly wonderful piece and although I am unable to contribute I am thoroughly enjoying this thread.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Steve,

You're most welcome. And yes should the right piece of headdress come along I already have a place on a shelf next to some of my favorite Scotch to display it. Some truly wonderful pieces here, makes one rather envious.

Keep up the good world old chap..

Cheers, Roy.

Default ww2 SAS beret

Hi Chaps,

Here a picture of a maroon 1944 kangol SAS beret. In 1944 when the SAS had returned to the UK it became part of the airborne forces (Army Air Corps) and had to adopt the maroon beret.

Cheers,
JB

Default RN Cocked hats

There has not been any activity since Nov in the Head Dress topic so I will add a couple nice Royal Naval Officer's Cocked hats - these examples date from the circa 1WW/interwar period.

1st & 2nd photos - Sub Lieut, Lieut & Lieut Commander.(right & left sides)

3rd & 4th photos - Commander, Captain & Commodore 2nd class (right & left sides)

Default RN Cocked hats

Flag Officers:

Commodore 1st class, Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, Admiral & Admiral of the Fleet.

More gold lace & bullions on their cocked hats!

Photos don't really do these hats justice, they are beautifully made!

Br

[PS - I have the full dress uniforms to go with these hats as well]

In answer to requests I have added some closeups of the Admiral's cocked hat:
