What Australian badge do I have here

An odd badge is it a Nurses neck badge?

Appears to be chromed and has an odd flat back lugged not pinned

not my area of knowledge any advice welcomed

The small one looks like a cast copy to me.

The large rising Sun badge is an army disposal store badge.

Made by an army disposal store to put on slouch hats they sell so not a real badge.

The small badge is the right size and color for a nurse's throat badge, but all the ones I've seen are pin back. Not sure how the would attach it with the two lugs, but maybe that's just me?

Just a wild thought, but wonder if it might be a movie prop from ANZAC Girls???? Still can't imagine trying to attach it as was worn by nurses with the lugs! Or maybe something theater made to wear on some kind of nurses hat????

Thank you all,

this is why I posted it as I said an odd badge Terry I also thought possibly theatre made due to the flat unmarked back, as their are no other examples coming up on search on the internet,

I had it tucked away with several Australian badges most post war.

An anomaly some one may come up with an answer for.

How to wear would be simple lugs through suitable fabric and safety pinned at each end under the collar.

2 nd badge was a surprise to me also as I just picked it at random it has a tail of its own.

Hey Guys,

Just asking about the ‘Army Disposals Fantasy Badge’ discussed above, I thought these were an ‘official’ Badge in that they were commissioned and struck so that they could be attached to surplus slouch hats and sold to the public after WW II in place of the Rising Sun badges. They weren’t made by army surplus dealers, not trying to be confrontational just asking to clarify.

As stated, the rising suns with the map of Australia are fantasy badges, definitely NOT official. Surplus slouch hats have been sold in disposal stores for many decades. It is an offence to wear one with an official badge (only in Australia) because you might be impersonating a member of the armed forces. The fantasy badges were made up to meet demand and sold all over Australia.
We have had a thread about this before. You can wear the genuine badge in other countries, as my wife and her tour party did in Israel during the 2017 Beersheba charge centenary.
