Just from the photograph, I would have thought it was of recent manufacture and completely spurious.

I agree, to a high standard but recent manufacture especially evident from the reverse and the way the enamel bends to the edges. It minds me of the G&E Life Guard fakes on Wharton Militaria a while back.

Afternoon.

Didn't Edward VIII wear a similar looking badge, and if he did then you could probably guarantee that it was a high quality Royal jeweller made badge, so maybe where this one came from as sure other high ranking officers would have followed his lead.

Only a thought.

I very much doubt that it’s a copy. It is being sold with other items that belonged to an officer in the WG. The quality is top notch and way above that of most reproductions.
Yes I know there are good repro’s such as the officer’s GMG, one of which I have, but we have seen these come up more than once. Has anyone ever seen another of this type and quality?

Yes there is another up for about £950, can't remember with who though ?
