Gloucestershire cap badge
I picked up this badge with the assumption it was likely a restrike/repro/fake. As a repro decorative piece, (which I had a use for), the price seemed fair, and I thought I could use it to help me start the learning process of trying to tell fakes from authentic, of which I have just a couple.
However, poking my uneducated (but willing to learn) nose around the interweb and this forum, I have not found any tell-tale red flag that I’ve seen discussed, that this example exhibits, other than that it appears to have never been worn. I would be much obliged if anyone could point out any giveaways that this is indeed a fake - or not. I appreciate your time and assistance. Thank you! Welcome.
Looks a fine badge to me. |

I can see noting wrong with it - the rear definition is good, it's not got the die flaw on the top edge of the tablet and the slider looks a period shape.

Welcome to this great forum, plenty of knowledgable collectors here to help, and as said the cap badge looks a good genuine example.

Is there also a die flaw on fakes below the bottom edge of the tablet underneath the E and above the leaf?

On some, yes. But with the caveat that there are known repros from other dies which do not exhibit that particular trait e.g. the below.
