Very nice as far as I can see.
The QVC dates from 1896-1902 - it also has a slightly different scroll inscription: 5TH IRISH V.B. / KING’S / LIVERPOOL REGT, Whereas your KC has 5TH V.B. (IRISH) / KING’S / LIVERPOOL REGT, (I have a KC VB with loops but am looking for a slidered one too !) 8th TF Bn The badge on the bottom left is that known as the 'thin neck' type, there are two dies to my knowledge The badge on the right is the 'thick neck' - this is actually the earlier version - only one die known to me. These were produced in 1908 but only classified by the War Office as Pattern 601/1915 The battalion was disbanded in 1922 (though reformed in 1939 with slightly different badges) Last edited by KLR; 18-10-19 at 10:24 AM. |

Many thanks for the reply.
The top badge says 8th not 5th though? Regards, Dave |

The 5th (Irish) Volunteer Battalion, The King's (Liverpool Regiment) changed in 1908 into 8th (Irish) Battalion, The King's (Liverpool Regiment) (TF).

Whoops, sorry - it is WO Pattern 11390/1939 , authorised on 6th December 1939. It was worn up to 1964 (still with a KC) when it was superseded by the AA badge (Pattern 19329/1964) but made obsolete only three years later !
