Grenadier guards peaked cap
Another one for my collection! Staybrite buttons and brass badge...a beautiful cap! Not in mint condition, but pretty nice! Hope you like it!

Yes, I think that type of sweatband dates to the 1970's - 80's?
I may be wrong on that, but I think infantry recruits in the Queen's Regiment and the Royal Anglians were being issued caps with that horrible flesh coloured rubberized fabric sweatband in late 1972 / early 1973, and police helmets had the same sweatbands in the early 1980's. |

The badge isn't Grenadier Guards.

Thought the flame pattern was a little unusual despite 17 points - what is it, Canadian?

This is a lot larger than the Grenadier Guards grenade.

That type of headband was in use through the 1980s in the RAF-regardless of manufacturer, so I would also put the cap in the '80s period. Late '80s if the chinstrap buckles are plastic. Regards, Paul.

Ta - I didn't know when the plastic buckles started being used.
I think Tigerlily tried to find out when they were introduced, in a thread posted some time ago. |

So this badge is not correct for this cap?

You are right...the HAC grenade is different from the guards grenade..

The plain ball grenade badge looks like the badge for the Winnipeg Grenadiers.

It is easy for me to change the badge of the cap for a correct grenadier guards cap badge (I have one spare) but I would like to know the origin of the grenade that my cap has...canadian? Hac?...Is a nice badge and it would be great to know something about it...Thanks for all your help!
