Just can't agree that the Bedford Yeomanry is good, but what the heck.

I believe the Lovat Scouts is a fake due to the large eyebrow.

It is not from the fake die which a quick search of eBay or Google will throw up many images for.

The badge is post #42 is from a known genuine die and importantly displays correct voiding in the birds legs. The materials and method manufacture are in keeping with this also. It is quite genuine.

The Lovat Scouts in post #44 is 100% genuine.

Reverse my appraisal of the Lincoln Yeo. It has the die flaw above "manr" which is thought indicate a genuine badge.

That is correct, Hugh King’s example shown in KK is from this die, as was the badge shown in the first (1969) edition of Wilkinson.

They’re found on both sliders and loops, with and without the small void at the scroll ends, with and without the die flaw. All quite genuine.

If you look at my Yeomanry 1914 album you’ll find an example from the same die which was struck prior to the flaw developing.

Luke, I bow to your expertise re the Lovat Scouts. I based my comment on this post where the large eyebrow was identified as bad.

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...t=lovat+scouts

But I am now confused. Are we saying the large eyebrow is a good badge?

To summerize so far:

West Kent reproduction according to Alan O
Northamptonshire reproduction according to CB
Leicestershire reproduction according to CB
Welsh Horse reproduction - according to JerryBB

Can others please confirm or deny?

Can I also conclude that the other badges that have not been discussed so far are original?

Thanks.

Cheers, Tom

I would agree about the Northants and the WH. The LY dates from the 1970's restrikes.

I believe the 2nd KEH is a copy, poor strike and slider incorrectly placed, cheers Dean

Overlooked this badge when first posting this thread:

Dorset Yeomanry - 94th and 141st Field Regiments, RA.

Just to sum up:

Good:
Lovat ww1 (Luke)
Bedford (Luke)
Lincolnshire (Luke)
Fife and Forfar (Luke)
Dorset Yeomanry (CB)

Bad:
Northampton (CB and Alan)
West Kent (Alan)
Welsh Horse (Jerry and Alan)
2nd King Edward's Horse (Dean)
Leicestershire (CB, Alan)

No specific comments on the rest - assumption: these are originals?????? Please note Dorset Yeomanry badge posted just above which is a late entry.

Thanks to everyone contributing so far. Further opinions most welcome. Thanks.

Hi Guys, which badge is Luke refering to as SRY - Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry?

Opinions on badges not yet discussed - most of these - would be very welcome as I prefer to keep the good ones and not return any undiscussed badges (with those who have already been termed bad) just to err on the side of caution. Thank you.
