Making Amends
Hello to all,
As a recent re-joiner of the hobby and the forum I have spent some time recently scouring some of the old threads that I either posted or contributed to during my tenure as member Charlie585 prior to 2012. I recall the forum being very active in those days with some fantastic contributors from whom I learned so much due to their generosity of spirit and likewise in very many cases in deed! I had many notable members in my friends list who I did my best to engage with on a mutually friendly and productive basis, some who are sadly no longer with us or, no longer members. Others who I note are still here and contributing and sharing their knowledge. It also had to be said that during this period, spirits quite often ran high! There were fallings out, tempers lost, despair felt and even members being banned, including myself. Due to the passage of time and on my part many life changing events since that time I find it hard to recall the details that led to that ban that I received but do feel a sense of regret that things got to the point where friendships were broken and in my own case, material including images of badges and photographs were removed (by me) in anger from many of my posts. To those that have had the misfortune to visit any of those posts and notice the absence of what was information that would maybe have enhanced their knowledge and enjoyment of the forum and the hobby, I sincerely apologise, I am sorry! I hope to be able in places to repair some of the damage to those posts in time by resubmitting info and images where I can in order to make amends and I hope that might meet with the approval of any that might rightly have judged me harshly for my actions. To those members and former friends who I may have upset in the past by breaking friendships or even influencing their reduction in active forum participation to any degree I also sincerely apologise, I am sorry! It is my hope that some if not maybe all can put these past upsets and discomforts to one side and see it in their hearts to forgive and forget any previous transgressions that I may have been guilty of. I was not innocent and truly regret some of the things I may have posted that having re-read them come across as ‘Crass’ and even arrogant, including my being unjustly judgemental at times as well as hurtful with some of my previously held views and comments. It is my sincere intention not to repeat the posting of such content during my continued re-engagement on the forum and not to pick or get involved in squabbles that have nothing to do with the reason I have re-joined, which is to once again learn and to contribute positively to the hobby whilst taking maximum enjoyment from my involvement whilst not spoiling the involvement of the participation of other members. Moving forward, I would very much hope to give, receive and enjoy once again the positive joint engagement that was also prevalent on the whole back in those distant days, it certainly was not all bad. To the friends and members who have so far made me feel once again welcome, I offer my heart felt thanks. To former ‘valued’ friends, I hope that we may be friends again in due course, no doubt dependent on my keeping to my word and above stated intentions! To those who don’t know me and those who may become future forum friends; Hello, I am Ry, a veteran and war pensioner Living on the south coast of England, who has a long held interest in several areas of the hobby due to a love of military history, inspired by my own service, the service of family members who went before me and in cases the geographic links to that service and the regiments that recruited in, Hampshire London and Durham as well as the Corps. My main area of interest is the badges and history of The Rifle brigade and I look forward to sharing my collection and knowledge going forward. My contacts and friends list always has space for friends old and new. Kindest regards to all. Ry
