Unusual for a coin to have the CO's and RSM's names on it. Any coins I've seen are generic, allowing for succession. There must be money to be spent.

Full colour flat depiction of the regimental cap badge (not engraved, but printed on an enamel inlay).

The CO/RSM award them as individual recognition for outstanding performance of duty, or participation in extra-curricular projects, etc.

I would assume you are a member of the Calgary Highlanders?... If so, you may find this little tidbit of information interesting. While I was away in the Netherlands recently, I visited the grave of a Calgary Highlander named Klane Harris.

Klane Harris was the younger brother of a very good friend of mine named Darrel Harris. During WW2, Darrel ended up with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and his baby brother Klane joined the Calgary Highlanders.

Klane was unfortunately killed in action and buried overseas. Darrel never made it over to visit his younger brothers grave. Darrel and I spoke about this on a few occasions and I knew this was very much a regret of his. Darrel has unfortunately since passed and never made it over there to visit Klane.

While I was in the Netherlands, I made it a point to attend the Bergen-Op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery in order to visit Klane on behalf of Darrel and his family. I sent the Harris family some soil from Klane’s grave and requested they place it on Darrel’s grave as a symbol of reuniting the two brothers once again. The dark soil on Darrel’s grave in the photo is the soil I sent to the family.

I hope the Harris brothers are at peace with one another.

Perhaps you recognize the lad in this photo? He’s a member of the Calgary Highlanders. I told him the story about Klane and Darrel and my intentions. He gave me a Calgary Highlanders cap badge to send along with the soil to the family.

Yes, I believe he was in the Pipes and Drums and is now in "A" Coy. Good to see the Highlanders who didn't come home are still visited and remembered.

I figured you would know or at least recognize him if you were a current serving Calgary Highlander. He was part of the (Reg & Reserve) honour guard the CAF sent to Holland for the various parades that took place.
