Default "V.R." officers Cap badge

Hi would be interested in your opinions on this badge recently aquired through E-bay any advice and history most welcome! or is it a made up piece?

Its a blazer badge, circa late 1930s onwards. As this seems to have a Queens crown, it would appear to be post 1953.
