Default What is she?

Any thoughts as to what this lady is? I can only think something to do with Civil Defence but I don't recognise the badge - it looks like a Norman castle.

Possibly a Newcastle on Tyne or Northumberland connection.

I cannot ID her, but a couple of observations - her BD and beret look to be very dark blue or black, and there seems to be some kind of small badge on her tie near the knot.

Its a post war Senior Girl Guides uniform - similar to war time battledress jacket with beret showing London area/district enamel badge worn over two pieces of colored felt. Badge on tie is a GG warrant badge

Thank you all for your responses/observations and to Milmed for the detailed identification. I didn't realise that GGs ever wore that type of uniform - always learn new things on the forum.

Just as a side, here are a couple of pictures of Princess Elizabeth, now Queen Elizabeth, as a Girl Guide. The one in color gives a good idea of the color of the uniform.

Thanks for the pictures Terry. Princess Elizabeth appears to be wearing the London District badge on the shoulder strap.
