RCAF trade badges.
Dear Forum,
Could these RCAF trade badges be regarded as original wartime Canadian made pieces ? Thank you for your input. Regards, Dominique |

Oui Dominique.....you're missing Aerial Photography,Gun Armourer,Air Frame Mechanic and Works and Buildings to have a complete set....the PTI badge is not a trade badge per se.......

Hi Dominique, the badges with the black backing are definitely Cdn and likely wartime. The one with the thin white mesh backing is likely SWW, but there were Patch King repro's made.

Agreed Phil, just putting it out as a caveat.

You're actually missing more than that for a complete set.
After the Physical Training Instructor at the top you have Instrument Maker (top left), Metalworker (top right), Armourer (bombs) (bottom left) and Mechanic (engines) (bottom right). There is also Armourer (guns), Photographer (it's not aerial photographer), Meteorologist, Works and Buildings, Mechanic (airframe), Electrician and Marine Craft Crew. The last two are the rarest. They will cost you around $200 each if you can find them, the rest will be about $5 each. They were authorised in 1944 and 1945 but we're not popular. Last edited by SAS1; 22-04-16 at 01:59 PM. |

Thank you for the caveat Bill but I think Phil is correct.
Attached is the picture of a worn piece backing. Alex, I understand I still have a long way to go. I am in your debt again. Best regards, Dominique |

The Meteorologist badge is also a rare one to find. I'm still after it as well as the Marine Crew. The original posted badges are definitely original pieces

Bill, is that a proposed design of the badge? Looks like they were going to use a ship's wheel originally?
