RUR WW2 Cord Boss & Badge, Auction Sale.
For those interested in the RUR badges, here's something for sale in Canada. May be worth a look.
I have no connection to this seller. Jo http://cgi.ebay.com/Orig-WW2-Royal-U...1%7C240%3A1318

Interestingly, the first Liverpool Irish officer's boss badges were based on this pattern and had an overlay inscr 8TH IRISH L’POOL REGT.Underneath, the "original" inscr has (not surprisingly) ROYAL IRISH RIFLES. I wonder if the first lot of RUR had overlaid titles too ???

A perfectly good boss in my opinion. Looks to have been actually used. I would tend to think that the RUR probably did not have to resort to using overlaid older badges. The L'pool Irish having less funds would find this a cost saving expedient.

Looks good to me too - boss colour a little faded but otherwise OK.

Officers badges would have been purchased by the officers themselves and whilst adapting another badge may have resulted in a saving in cost to the maufacturer, I dont think this was necessarily passed on to "The Liverpool Irish"

If anyone is interested to know.....with only three bidders it was sold for US$ 67.55 (GBP 45.00) on 6/02/09. IMO I thought it would have sold for a lot more.
