Cloth badge identification needed
Does anyone know what this badge is, please? It looks like the Royal Sussex badge, and if so, could it perhaps be a cloth cap badge of ACF detachments?
Any information would be gratefully received. |

Many thanks for that. I don't have the badge myself but can now let my correspondent know what it is.

Hi Badger,
There are at least three versions, including a padded version. All are shown in my Brighton Grammar School / B.H.A.S.VI C. album. KR, Pete Last edited by Tiger Pete; 13-03-20 at 11:14 AM. |

Ours is a very small world, I have seen the same badge recently amongst some other badges but can’t remember where.
Looking at my and Badgers location, I wonder if it might even have been the same actual badge ? Peter

Thanks for the comments. May I ask when it was worn, if not current, and if it was worn as a cloth cap badge, or an arm badge?

Hi Badger,
It was certainly worn during the 1980s, 1990s and noughties. My personal belief is that it would have been implemented shortly after BGS became BHASVIC in 1975 and the BGS badges could no longer be worn (some officers did continue wearing them into at least the 90s). The contingent no longer operates at BHASVIC and moved over to Longhill High School which had for some years provided some of the cadets and officers. I need to confirm its current status. KR, Pete |

...worn as a beret badge on a navy beret.

My example for comparison which appears ident to 'Badgers'. So a padded version to keep an eye out for too! Thank you Pete.
Similar 'Sussex' design trait to the Eastbourne college CCF. Regards all Bess |

Hi Gents,
Pictures of the padded version attached for reference. I should have clarified that it is the reverse that is padded. This is identical to the one I was issued in 1989. KR, Pete |

Many thanks for all the additional information on this. All of it has been most useful in clarifying things for me.
