Why was this thread locked, I am sure lots of members would have wanted to voice their opinions on this matter.

My guess is that it was getting a bit heated. I'm still hoping someone will tell me what the western-style Strath's buckle was made for. I may have to take a trip to their museum at the Calgary Military Museums to find out.

I believe this was properly identified in the blocked thread. It is a private buckle decorated with a military badge. The style is very much like a rodeo buckle and given the LdSH's Western roots and location it is not surprising that a member (or a family member) made this up.
Unless you wish to wear this with your jeans I see no value beyond that of the (worn) badge.

I'm sure you have tonnes (yup, Mr. Metric here!) of credibility. I just missed the explanation before the thread was locked, and Eddie Parks I believe had implied (inferred?) he had some secret knowledge about the buckle I was hoping he'd share.

The buckle was most likely made for the Calgary Stampede, the LDSH was always in the Stampede parade when they were posted there.

I don't mind dealers (or anyone for that matter) picking our collective brains. What bothered me was;
1. the lack of transparency, i.e., please help me identify this so that I can list it accurately and increase my profits, and
2. the lack of offering it to the forum members first.

Default LdSH (RC) western rodeo buckle
The above discussion reminded me that I have somewhere in my accumulation a similar buckle that incorporates a regimental registered brand, an upright L with a lazy (lying on its side) S beneath it. Brands are registered in the province of Alberta and no one but the registered owner may use a particular one. All of the Regiment's horses are marked with the brand, as well as some other regimental property. The buckles themselves are worn with "casual" civilian dress by members of the Regiment.
