Hi,
I read the discription, but I must have been looking at the wrong badge "featuring very crisp detail, in better than very fine condition." Not quite the one I saw! Eddie |

Calgary Regiment (Tank)
I have one of these in my collection, sand cast rather than die stamped. Regimental lore has it that the Regiment ran short of cap badges in Italy, and the mechanics, or fitters as they were then called, in the RCEME Light Aid Detachment, produced these sand cast badges. I heard the story from the then-Quartermaster, and post-war Commanding Officer, so I think the story may have some credibility. The problem is how to differentiate between a badge produced by this method in 1944 and another in 1980. The only difference between mine and thew ones being sold by emedals is that mine does indeed have crisper details than the two he is flogging. I would not buy either of his; they are just too crude.

Good Evening Wyn.....
I was offered one of these a few weeks ago in an antique store here in Calgary, it felt very heavy and felt like lead...... Mike
