Default KORBR

I recently acquired a King's Own Royal Border Regiment cap badge in bimetal - white metal lion with gilding metal wreath and crown - that is exactly the same in appearance as the anodised aluminium version. It has a slider with J.R GAUNT LONDON inscribed. Did the regiment wear these? The badge I have seems a little more substantial than the rather flimsy anodised aluminium version, and may have been preferable for wear in the field. Can anyone shed any light on this variety. I am a Luddite, without the skills to photograph and post badges.
