1st Admin Bn (14th Birnam) Perthshire Rifle Volunteer Corps cast pewter Glengarry/Pouch badge 62 mm high circa 1860.
The Birnam Oak to the centre of a strap inscribed BIRNAM RIFLE VOLUNTEERS surmounted by a crown. Four copper wires to the reverse with only two and a half still present. Obverse has a silvered finish.

A lovely badge.
It's amazing how the copper wires have survived, albeit only two and a bit of them.

Question 1st Admin Bn (14th Birnam) Perthshire Rifle Volunteer Corps

This looks to me like a piece of Horse Furniture rather than a pouch/Glengary badge, if the badge is filled with lead which I image it is it would be very heavy on a Glengary.

Only an opinion.

Rob

Rob,
It’s not lead filled but solid and weighs less than some of my officer’s glengarries.
But thinking about it in 1860 they were wearing shako.s not glengarries.
I have other shako examples with the four wire fixings.
Ron.

Perth Highland Rifle Volunteers OR's WM glengarry badge c1874-87.
Near mint example die-stamped crowned title strap: with less common solid thistle centre.
Became 5VBRH in 1887.

Black Watch Officers SBP 1881-1902.
Seeded rectangular plate with burnished edges mounted with a silver Star of The Order of The Thistle mounted on the Star a gilt wreath:within the wreath a Crowned oval inscribed NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSET to the centre St. Andrew in silver. Gilt polished off the wreath and darked toned on the plate. Hook and studs removed presumably for display purpose retaining pins were absent have replaced with pins. Name in makers tablet is obscure but probably Kirkwoods.

Thanks Chris, here is a view of how it came I just cleaned the polish residue off the plate with water & toothbrush, a couple of sturbborn areas I had to use a brass wire brush.

1st Admin Bn 8th (Crieff) Corps Perthshire Rifle Volunteers 1860-1880.
Officers silver pouch-belt plate a circlet inscribed NEMO NE IMPUNE LACESSIT 1860 to the centre a voided thistle. N&S screwposts have been removed E&W silver loops added. There is a hallmark on the front of the badge at 7 o' clock tiny and poorly struck. Makers initials appear to be JH? I can make out a lion passant but not the office or date?

Attribution and accompanying photo from Captain Durants 1950s collection.

Officers S/P collars 1890s, not recorded in Churchill.
Accompanying photo 1st Bn in Gibraltar 1889-1893 shows collars being worn.
