Default 2 Para Regimental Police

Hi Team

There have been several threads on Para RP basicaly ID the brasard.

However there was no mention of when these were worn.I have 1970's-80's if some one can confirm would be appreciated.

The Foldered border, lower strap,RP and II are wool, the base, top strap and 2 Para Flash are felt.Unsure if that means anything just thought I would add it to the thread for future reference.

With Silver anondised Para collar.

I beleive these would of been made by 2 Para QM?

Also what are the official colours of the Parachute Regiment?

cheers

Phill

Phil, the only Parachute Regt RP brassards I've seen have been on DPM or green material. Not sure I've seen an individual Battalion brassard before.

Attached from my collection.

Hi Bess

Thanks for the reply.

Here are 2 threads on RP brassards.

I could not find anything on the net so hoping that someone might know of its dates of use.

I suspect these brassards may originate from the mid 1960s through to the 1980s when the three regular battalions of the Parachute Regiment were based in Aldershot in adjoining barracks (Arnhem, Bruneval, Normandy and Rhine) forming Montgomery Lines and opened in 1965 to house 16 Parachute Brigade.

There may have been a need to clearly differentiate between the RP staff of the battalions!
It would seem likely that 4 PARA emulated the design and brassards were probably made up in small numbers in the Garrison tailor’s shop and in appropriate regimental colours.

Hi Tim

Thanks for clarifying the dates of issue.

When Bess showed his brassard as the only he had seen, my thoughts went to the 60's-70's.

much appreciated.

I have 1, III, 4 and X RP brassards. The 10 Para one is marked lighter than the regular battalions. Bought in the late 70s, early 80s. Du Bora’s shop in Aldershot may have been involved.
I also have a couple of SAS RP arm bands.
If you want to get rid of the 2 Para brassard, I’d be very interested.

Thanks Bess

The 80's/90's Brassard is great to see.

Thanks for confirmation Ian and what a nice set of brassards.

At this stage I quite like it and have a small collection (very small) of para badges from the 70's to 90's.

cheers

Phill
