Thanks again Alan, the collection contains a lot of these badges Very confusing for the novice collector, with soldiers wearing officially issued badges and private purchase metal ones as well!!.

Kind of as an aside to this thread. If soldiers are wearing these PRI badges then would they not also be considered as good badges even if not MOD issued?

I ask this because when I was collecting airborne there is a Type 8 101st patch that currently goes in the $1,500 range. It was not an officially issued badge but one that was contracted for by the division prior to D-Day to be given to the officers and any left overs to the senior NCOs. Airborne collectors this a valid patch.
