Default Unknown medal

I know this is not really a medal forum, but I have had no luck in identifying this medal, I would love to know who issued it, obviously WWII.

Thanks for looking and hopefully ID.

Rob

The ribbon style is that of Russia and the Baltics, as well as Austria, and the ribbon colors indicate Hungarian. But I was not able to find it in a quick search, so just my thoughts.

Greetings Rob.

Possibly Bulgarian, I enjoy working on puzzles like this and after a bit of research have come up with the following, albeit the text isn't the same but somewhat similar:

?? ??????? ? ????????????? ????? 1944–1945 ?.
Za Uchastie V

(For Participation in the Patriotic War 1944–1945).

Awarded to Bulgarian or allied troops for participation in the war against the Axis from 9 September 1944 – 9 May 1945.

With possibly the incorrect ribbon, the nearest/identical ribbon I found was for for: For Participation in the Balkan Wars 1912–1913.

Regards.

Brian

Rob.

Tried twice but the Bulgarian text didn't paste onto the reply.

Perhaps if you search for WW2 Bulgarian medals, you'll find which one I referred to.

Regards.

Brian

Bulgaria 1944-45 Patriotic War Medal

20.30 gr - 10.5 cm- Awarded to those who fought between 9 September 1944 and 9 May 1945, when Bulgaria passed to the Soviet side. When the Red Army entered Bulgaria on September 9, 1944, its troops fought alongside the Soviets against the Germans in Serbia, Hungary and Austria on several fronts until the end of the war. This war was called the "Patriot War". On the obverse are two flags, a bladed firearm and several bay leaves. On the reverse you can see the legend "OTE-YECTBEHA BOÑHA 1944-45" ("Patriot War 1944-45").

Default Medal query

Brian and gpag2, many thanks for your replies to my question, I am not really a medal collector and items like these do tend to be difficult in identifying.

This came along with a large collection of items I recently bought, I may use this item to exchange for items in future.

Once again many thanks.

Rob
