Thanks for the correction, Alan, I’ve learnt somethings new, but why the brackets around SAS?

Colin

Putting brackets where they don't need to be myself now! Force of habit from writing the old 264(SAS) Sqn title! They are now part of 18(UKSF) alongside 267 (SRR) and 268 (UKSF) by the way as they too rebranded a few years ago. What was 63(SAS) Sig Sqn (R) is now 63 (UKSF). Still a reserve unit but supporting the whole UKSF.

When the Army Reserve was repurposed circa 2017 the decision was taken to remove the (R) titles from all Reserve units. With the wider use of the Reserve and the creation of hybrid units, it was felt that the (R) designation was not appropriate. It still sneaks in from time to time and on the MOD own website it throws a few brackets in with both (R) and (SAS)! https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/c...e/21-23-sas-r/

Thank you for further expanding on this point. I am assuming that 63 (UKSF) Sig Sqn are retaining their beige (sandy) berets despite the name change, but it would be nice to get that confirmed.

It has been a few years but last time I saw a member of 63 was in 2017 and they were wearing the same beret. I have no reason to believe anything has changed.
