Picked up what I thought was interesting tankard.
Im curious about the C.A. ? Thought it was Artillery as it looks like Gunner... Anyone able to give me a hand in learning more about this piece. Cheers! Sorry if this is the wrong section. tankard2.jpg |

Thanx for the replies!
I think its a C not a G. Theres a G in Regt to compare. Thought Canadian Artillery but not sure if that was used. Royal Canadian Artillery or Canadian Field Artillery I think would be accurate for that time. Id be very happy if it was a Canadian item. |

5th 'British Columbia' Regiment of Garrison Artillery, Canadian Artillery. The 1st Battalion of that regiment has a direct lineage to the 5th (British Columbia) Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, existing today.
Use of the 1st Battn title would possibly place it prior to 1 August 1899, on which date the 2nd Battalion became infantry, and the 1st Battalion title was dropped. Keith |
