Leslie Grier, MiD, Parachute Regiment
Please can anyone throw any light on information or history of this WW2 Soldier and (I think) Arnhem Veteran?

William,
You have probably seen this but here is his MID London Gazette entry. He is listed under Army Air Corps at the top right of the page and confirms the award was for action at Arnhem. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/.../4684/data.pdf Regards, Simon. |

Thanks Simon,
Yes. I think his MiD was from Arnhem and this London Gazette entry makes that seem likely. William |

Many thanks, John and Simon for interesting info.
Please does anyone know what medals he would have been entitled to? Also, what about his service record? How do I find out if he qualified for his parachute wings, or any other info? Thanks again! William Last edited by William; 25-07-22 at 09:14 PM. |

Also, is there any way I can find a citation for his Mention in Despatches? Why and how did he get this award? Thanks again! William |

William,
Think it will be quite difficult to find out exact details regarding his MID and researching those who served in WW2 is again quite a difficult task unless you are a Family member. (Believe you can request various information from MOD records if you have that connection although I'm not 100% on that) May be worth asking for assistance on the ParaData website (Link attached), have checked for your Man with no trace and am not a Member myself but you may get lucky as his Award was for Arnhem. https://www.paradata.org.uk/roll-call All the best, Simon. |
