I am a French collector like a few in the North of France.
I collect the British and Commonwealth cap badges.
I love Canadians and New Zealanders very much.
I think my collection reaches 5 to 600 pieces because I did not count, more titles, collars, arm badges etc ...
I have some WWII badges mostly Canadian too.

Cheers.
Good night everybody.
Jean Paul - you've made me very jealous on two counts. Firstly because of the size of your collection and secondly - because you live in Northern France! (My favourite place in the whole world, except maybe Liverpool on a Saturday afternoon!) Vive la France mon ami !!! (apologies for spelling and grammar...)

Terry hi
It's only tiny but yes I can take some more shots and post them (not sure anyone would be particularly interested though). I must admit, there's quite a few pieces in there....mostly related to family members who served; grandparents, parents, uncles etc.

Please don't think me dippy, but I actually had to sell quite a few German pieces, simply because things kept "flying" off the wall and piling up neatly in the middle of the room. My wife (AKA the Long Haired General) insisted that I sell the lot because "those b***dy nazis are upsetting your Uncles". Since I moved it all on, there's been no incidents at all - and honestly, I really don't believe in such guff, but it did happen. (Cue: Twilight Zone music.....)
All the best, Gary B

Thanks Gary,

Sent you a OM so hope you see it.

Funny story about your wife's comments. NAZI stuff just leaves me cold, but it is BIG stuff here at our shows/fairs!!! I have one item in my collection, and only because it was given to me - a small piece of German WW2 parachute uniform fabric. I thought about seeking a vintage parachute badge to go with it, but have never been able to bring myself to do so.

Thanks again and I look forward to see your collection/study!!!

Terry

I have 12 A4 hardback binders; each has 10-12 page and each page has 10-15 badges on it. About 1200 in total.

Alas the few gaps I have to fill are the very pricey ones!

I have a particular interest in collecting items relating to the Great War and sadly most of my collection is packed away due to lack of space to display it.

A visitor once told me, "I love coming to your house, it is just like a museum". I thought how bloody rude. It is a museum.

I have really enjoyed this thread and noticed there seems to be a bit of a theme running through, most of us are male and most of our wives don't understand the affliction. Not 100% accurate I know, I know there are some very knowledgeable female collectors and some wives who totally get it but generally that seems to be the way.

I store my collection in plastic boxes that I get from a motor supplies shop which is usually used for screws etc which in turn are in aluminium cases.

Now that my kids are in the process of moving out the long haired OC has authorised a few frames to be put together to go on a wall along with some medal groups I've put together for family history.

I have a spreadsheet I use to keep track of the collection and try to stop me doubling up which tells me at the minute I have 1575 items in my collection however I have another bag which is full of new additions waiting to be added to the list and put in the cases. That job waits for a day when my lovely wife is out somewhere (she's a very busy lady and doesn't need to be bothered with all of this ).

Happy collecting everyone,

Michael
