Welsh Guards officers coloured fs cap

Welsh Guards officers coloured fs cap, made by the same maker as the WG officers khaki side cap recently. It is the third cap by the maker, Edward Smith, for WG officers.

Again, nice cap. Smiths were known for supplying uniforms to the Guards werent they?
The Boyle Street address was pre -mid 30's, the Corks Street address post-mid 30's?

Leigh, indeed Smith were well known outfitters for the Guards, i will check the address on the other wg cap I have by them. I have not looked at dating yet other than pre 53, though I think both would be post 37 when side caps are reintroduced.

this I believe WWII WG forage is smith at Cork street & Bond street same as the Khaki side cap, which makes sense as I thin both are WWII, it will be interesting what transpires about the dating of the other makers mark. the cork street/bond street mark is by appointment hatters to H M King George VI

A Google found this in the Army Lists of 1921 and 1924.

Leigh, I also found some items online from much earlier with boyle street mark.

Interesting, I wonder if we can find when they moved premises

did see that Leigh, I just revisited it, and it has boyle street on the label.
