I’m sure an officer would have the clout to get one from the stores and get the armourours to fret off the scroll. I’m not arguing the badge in question is an OR’s with the scroll missing but you try removing one by bending or dropping it to see if it breaks, it won’t. It’s been removed for a reason so not a ‘damaged’ badge.

Maybe it's been deliberately deprived of it's scroll in order make it a rare long slidered version for sales puposes.
Not something I'd want to spend money on, to me, without provenance it's just damaged, whether the alteration is deliberate or not. Provenance is key, to me. |

I am sure I have read that circa WW2 these scrolless badges were adapted for SNCOs to wear - possibly on 'walking out' sidecap.
I have not seen any photo of them in use but I would not throw it away just yet as the removal is deliberate. |

I thought the CFSC shown is (was, courtesy of the fire?) an Other Ranks rather than officer's, which would tally with being an NCO's
I still wouldn't be inclined to pay that kind of money for a badge that can be had for 20% of the price asked and a few seconds work with a pair of snips.
