Default RSPC Award?

Hi
Can anyone advise what this lapel badge was awarded for. Other than what is written on the front. Silver hall mark makes me suspect higher award?

I have found several for sale but no information as to why what was the criteria?
Nothing on RSPCA website either.

Regards

Stephen

Probably stating the obvious, but hallmarks are for 1946, Thomas Fattorini.

Possibly an award for services during the war? Hope this helps.

I have gathered up a few animal related tags/ fobs as my wife and I are great lovers of pets, specifically cats, but all are dear to us.

My latest was a Tail Wagger's Club with red enamel Sargent's stripes attached and the name "Sgt. "Jock" engraved thereon. I'm guessing he was a chihuahua or am I wrong here?

Maybe for someone who ran a pet sanctuary during the war?

Hi Stephen and Terry

A pleasure to help and add a bit more to the puzzle. Just wonder if these are available at a reasonable price and, if so, might look to add one to my small, animal-related sideline collection.

I would also think that you may chance upon one of these that it is named (either privately or officially) and this may help you to do further research.

They certainly would have been items cherished by their owners.

A thought that just occurs is that the "Services Rendered" wording reminds me of the phrase seen on SWBs, etc. further underscoring the link with war.
