Default Glasgow Highlanders and Royal Ulster Rifles

These badges are suspect. What do the members think?

Glasgow Highlanders has very little detail on the back and I don’t recall seeing lugs that that were this coppery before.

Royal Ulster Rifles I think has the correct voiding, better detail on the back, but I’m not a fan of the lettering which doesn’t seem a crisp as it should be.

The BW badge is fake it has the nutty professor St. Andrew.

The RUR is the later type but looks OK, just a poor strike.

Thanks for the reply Luke H.

To be honest I was afraid someone might split open a gut laughing so hard at the Highlander badge.

When you say "later" for the Irish badge would that mean one of the badges produced during the 2nd WW with economy, not quality, in mind?

Looks more like agent X20 from Stingray.

I don't like the look of either of them. The patina just looks...wrong?

The FN made badges were certainly produced during WW2 and do lack certain voids albeit this wasn’t not an official ‘economy’ measure. Rather the RUR plastic was the economy measure.

Your badge could be WW2 or most likely afterwards IMO.

The strike around the scroll may be a poor one but as to your point re detail, look at the face - features, hair, eyebrows, nose, ears, the proportions. It’s rather well detailed I think.

My thoughts would be to get a refund.

The RUR badge is likely original in my opinion as well, although not a good example.
Many OR badges made in the WW2 era are poorly done.

Leigh, the second picture of Willy with the large mouth could very well be the model for St. Andrew on the fake badge.

Amy, welcome to the site.

Frank, refunds on free badges from a friend are rather meager, but message received.

With the Royal Ulster badge I was hoping, at best, for poor quality, but something that could have been issued during the 2nd WW.

Thanks for the opinions.

Dean
