Default Wounded, Injured, Sick
I have been shown this rank slide and told that the letters stand for Wounded, Injured, Sick.

Can anyone provide further information please?

Some one is pulling your leg or is a numpty. It's WIS as in Weapons Intelligence Specialist.

WIS stands for 'Weapons Intelligence Section'. They used to be part of the RMP in NI Days possibly part of the Int corps now but I have rather lost track of all the reorganisations so stand to be corrected.

WIS are mostly made up of Int Corps with some RMP thrown in. They have a small but very interesting museum in Northern Ireland.

Thank you all for enlightening me.

The Army's website includes details of 6 Military Intelligence Battalion which notes that;-

"Specialist skills across the range of intelligence disciplines may then be developed to broaden their skills. Members of the Battalion have worked on operations in Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Weapons Intelligence (WIS), Exploitation (EXP), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) and the utilisation of language skills"

Does this mean that there could be similar rank slides bearing the other abbreviations - or am I being too simplistic?

Your final sentence - I sincerely hope not! Having commanded an MI Bn, I think it would be an absurd idea!

This one just might be Defence Human Intelligence Unit (DHU).
