Red face CEF vs. WWII Badges from Canada

Hello Everyone.

First, I wish to thank you for accepting me into your very knowledgeable forum! As much as I think I know, I quickly find out...yup, not as much as I think!!! I am having problems distinguishing between WWI and WWII badges if an battalion/unit has fought during both wars. I have seen conflicting information re: sliders and lugs to determine if an item is WWI or II, so am unsure how to make a call on originality. Also, just to make things a little more interesting, cloth is an issue too. Any advice? Thank you for your help and patience.

PS: I too am from Canada!! Whoop, Whoop!

Hi Stacy, welcome to the Forum. Your account is active and open for posts.
Your questions are difficult to answer briefly. There a couple of basic considerations. First WW CEF badges almost all have numerals. There are exceptions, but that is a starting rule of thumb. The Second WW badges are named, of course a couple of exceptions. At the top of this page in the Other Pages tab there are several links to reference pages. Note the CEF and Canadian Post 1920 links take you to galleries that have images of the badges.
Not sure what yo mean by cloth is an issue too?

I admit, my opening statement was a bit broad.

I will post some pictures and questions shortly. Thank you for your patience. Oh, and re: cloth insignia. I have a difficult time, sometimes with shoulder flashes. I know which ones are wartime, but I sometimes have difficulty with determining if they are replicas. I have noticed that the stitching is different with Canadian and UK made flashes along with the types of backings. The internet, although a wonderful thing, can present some challenges with conflicting information.

Thank you,

Stacy
