1980s/1990s Officer's Cap Badges - Advice Please
Hello All
I have been picking up officer's cap badges for the past few years with the intention of completing a full set of Cavalry/Infantry/Corps badges as they stood in the late 1980s/early 1990s (pre Options for Change). I am mainly collecting the silver & gilt dress cap badges (Forage Cap) but realise a few regiments wore bullion badges in this era. I have the majority but have a few queries over the ones for the regiments I am still looking for so could anyone please advise me on my questions below. Life Guards & Blues & Royals - Did officers of these 2 units wear the Gilt & Enamel badge pictured below (K&K 1884)? Royal Horse Artillery - Did officers wear a gilt version of K&K 1934? 16th/5th QRL - Did officer's wear a full size silver & gilt version of K&K 1911 or just a S&G smaller version as per K&K 1910? Military Provost Staff Corps - Did officer's wear a gilt version of the standard cap badge? (K&K 2143) RMA Sandhurst - Did the staff wear the cap badge of their parent unit? Royal Armoured Corps - Was there a silvered version of the mailed fist badge or did officers wear the badge of their parent unit? Am I right in thinking that the Welsh Guards, Grenadier Guards, Gloucestershire Regiment & Royal Welch Fusiliers all wore bullion badges? Many thanks in advance Paddy |

[QUOTE=Paddy;288898]Hello All
Paddy RMAS Officers and Staff all wore parent unit badges. The Academy RSM may have been the exception. RAC Junior Leaders regt Officers all wore parent unit badges. However cadet force officers wore RAC cap badges. Bournemouth School CCF wore the RAC badge as they were affiliated to Bovington RAC centre. |

I think he wore a bullion version of that badge on a No1 dress hat. Can't remember ever seeing him in a beret as he was always in Barrack dress or Blues.

I would expect that to be on his beret as well.
Could yours be a RMAS band badge or a 1960s OCdts? |
