Unusual Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps Collar

Hi guys, I picked this up today with some neat cuff links and can honestly say that I've never seen (or noticed) this collar badge before. Mazeas lists this badge as S. 13. I picked it up as I didn't recognize it. Is it particularly scarce?

Hi Colin

Yes, I can ask him if I may do that. He has been looking at your Museum's pages online to help him determine what he should have as representation.

Basically, he wants cloth shoulder titles (x1), cap badges and metal shoulder titles (x1) in a progressive line of three rows.

The cloth shoulders would likely be WW1 and post WW1 C.O.C., WW2 R.C.O.C., WW2 RCEME, and the post WW2 spelled out Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers and the same type but post-WW2 and modern ones.

Cap badges would be the 1904 COC, 1922 RCOC, 1926 KC RCOC, WW2 RCEME, and the different post-WW2 KC and QC RCEME, EME/GEM and new RCEME ones.

For metal titles he plans COC, RCOC, RCEME, EME and the new RCEME.

He has bought a shadowbox from Michaels but I think he'll need abigger one.

He's not a militaria collector and is learning alot about types, periods of use and all the other things refering to cloth, caps, collars, titles etc.

I'm am only guiding him along within my own knowledge limits and he is doing the bulk of the work in research. We may have a new collector here!!

I have some of these spare. The FWW C.O.C. was only made in metal, I have no record of an embroidered type. There are different SWW types, abbreviated, embroidered full and printed full, and then the pattern with the double layer of cloth. (These are all RCOC). The RCEME has abbreviated and full for SWW, with two types of abbreviated titles and the printed type. And then the full style post SWW.

There is no new RCEME badge, We will just continue to wear the EME GEM one. And yes you will need LORE in there too.

All good stuff. Thank you Bill, re the COC only in metal. I'll pass that on. He may ask after getting a single COC.

Again, he is not after one of every possible capbadge, cloth or metal title. He is not a collector. He just wants to show in shoulders capbadges and metal titles where his Trade fits in. I guess up to 1944 they were RCOC and afterwards RCEME.

Colin, he was after a brass b-imetal RCEME QC. I guess around here some of the senior NCOs like to wear them on Parades. I've sold something like five or 6 in a row to those types. He was issued new metal shoulder titles. Anodized RCEME with thin letters. Push pin backing. He has the older lugged brass RCEME, the EME (He's anti-GEM) titles and the LORE capbadge.

Very nice collar worn from 1922-1926. You have piqued my curiosity. I'm going into the museum before Christmas and will have a shufti.
