Opinions please 7th London
I do not think this is good as it does not have the 7 attached to the grenade via a pin. Is this correct?

No it's from Marsh - see the small 'bubbles' in the flame are from the same die used to make the fantasy version with the 3 on it.

I don't see how you guys use the Marsh Catalogue for detailed reference. The images are appalling.

In this case the Marsh catalogue shows the fantasy 3 grenade alongside the 7th London Regt's grenade. I have have had both in my hand at once and the bubbles in the grenade are identical showing that they are from the same die.
Neither had the brasing holes or wires I expect to see in a genuine 7th Londons, |

That's a much better example and does not have the Marsh die-flaws. The 7th wore this badge until conversion to RA in WW2.

They were RE 1935-40. Did they wear this badge or the RE badge then?

It is recorded that they retained the 7th badge whilst RE but did change to RA when they converted. Not sure what year was this change.

Quote:
The conversion to 32nd (7th City of London) Ant-Aircraft Battalion, Royal Engineers (TA) was in 1935 (when my information is correct). These RE A-A Battalions had a searchlight function. In 1940 taken over by the RA and became: 32nd (7th City of London) Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery.

Both of those are exactly the same, bubbles or no. Not the same as the example I posted in '21, but I don't know.
