Your wing is a standard UK manufactured wing but on black backing which was not uncommon.

As to why some wings were produced on a brown / khaki background and others black is still a mystery. There is plenty of photographic evidence of these being worn during the War.

Wings on a blue background are usually associated with post war RAF parachute qualified personnel.

Default Para wings on blue backing

Post war RE and RA officers sometimes wore para wings with a blue backing on battledress. The wing backing colour is close to that for the rank insignia. Not seen any formal approval for this so may be a private purchase choice.

Best regards,
Andy
