Amazing what gets chucked out...cracking wings !!
I remember my Jewish grandfather deciding to bin my whole german militaria collection because it contained Nazi items !!! I was aged 12 at the time and all my stuff was given to me !! Ohhhhh the gems that I lost.....one very lucky bin man did well that day ....

Very nice. Just give your mobile number to a bloke at the tip.
I haven't, but a guy at my local tip always used to put ceramic plant pots to one side for me. A set of 6 hardwood garden chairs ($1000 in America) cost me £10, all my garden furniture's cost me a few quid, but apart from a Mk VI lid I've never had any militaria.
I sit in my cheap second hand garden chair and drink beer and brood about that.

I nearly choked on my tea - amazing finds!

The 27L embroidered badges are of course especially nice.

Best,

Marcus

I hope they were not stolen and dumped by the thief? Someone may be missing them!

Contained in an old tin dumped as scrap in the metal skip perhaps?
I have a batch of about 40 WWII era German navy badges contained in a small white cloth bag that a friend bought for 20p at a jumble sale, presumably the seller didn't know what the bag contained.
These things happen (just not to me often enough).
From personal experience I know darned well that when relatives clear a house all kinds of treasures just get dumped in a skip.

And the moral of the story is ... take steps to ensure the same thing does not happen to your own collections
I know I am taking precautions

It never ceases to amaze me that in this age of the internet, with the world at one's fingertips, that the person who threw these items away didn't take a few seconds to see if they were worth anything? A mate of mine had a similar experience recently when he found a bunch of medals and citations thrown into a skip! I guess though humans are fickle, and one man's rubbish is another man's gold. A great find, I bet you were well excited when you discovered them!
